Adult education

Teaching adults: with confidence and well prepared

Anyone who has ever taught knows: adults bring a lot of experience to class and often also high demands.

The confidence needed to teach adults is something that can be learned. The methodological and didactic foundations are the first step towards this. And those who enjoy standing in front of a class already have an advantage.

Those who teach adults, either in their own company, for example, or in in an association or at a language school, have many options to hone their skills. Here are some courses that are particularly popular:

SVEB certificates

In some schools and companies, the Swiss Association for Further Education (SVEB) certificate is a prerequisite for giving courses for adults. Those who complete this certificate are well prepared. And those who are already teaching also benefit: you reflect both on yourself and your role as a course leader, learn new methods and expand your routine.

Language teaching entry

If you already teach a language or would like to start, here you can develop the basics to make lessons practical and lively. You reflect on your role as a course leader, recognise strengths and potential, set yourself development goals. This module is the first of five leading to a federal diploma in pedagogy.

There is a wide range of courses to become a facilitator:

  • Introduction to Adult Education
  • SVEB certificates
  • Integration (fide)
  • Swiss federal diploma (facilitator)
  • EUROLTA certificates
  • Courses for language teachers
  • Giving online lessons

In adult education, the IBAW maintains a very close partnership with the Klubschule Migros. Courses and programmes that were previously run by the Klubschule are now offered by the IBAW.

Until this change is completed, bookings will continue to be made through the Klubschule.

Personal guidance

The step into adult education is an important one. For some it is a new profession, for others a re-entry. We would be happy to advise you. Contact us or book an information event near you.
