Then this degree programme IT Specialist (Systems and Network Engineering) is exactly YOUR thing! In this course, you will acquire practice-oriented expertise in the areas of networks, clients, servers, as well as work in ICT support organisations.

What content does the course of study cover?

  • Introduction to computer architecture
    (Structure of a CPU (single/multicore/multisocket), data processing in a computer)
  • Commissioning and installation of client PCs
    (Windows, standard software)
  • Develop and design network infrastructures for SMEs
    (LAN, VLAN, QoS, static routing)
  • Plan, install and operate Windows servers and server services for SMEs
    (Hyper-V, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
  • Developing scripts to automate processes
    (PowerShell & Python)
  • Plan and deploy an MS Teams based telephony solution
    (VoIP Basics, Enterprise Voice Setup)
  • Securing an ICT infrastructure
    (Cryptography, protection software, recognition of security threats, compliance)
  • Work in an ICT support organisation
    (1st and 2nd level, escalations, “correct” telephoning)
  • Handling of small ICT projects
    (Time and resource planning, procurement of components, costing)
  • Evaluate and calculate ICT services
    (criteria catalogues, utility analyses, cost calculations)

Admission requirements

In addition to logical and networked thinking skills, you should also have good Windows skills and a preference for technology, working in a team and contact with customers.

Independence is a prerequisite

A lot of self-discipline is required for the IBAW programme IT Specialist (Systems and Network Technology), because the further education is conducted as blended learning. 25% of the time is spent in the classroom (traditional in-person learning) and 75% is taught online. In addition, the students develop content themselves by means of guided e-learning. The teaching materials used are mostly available digitally.
