Become a Web Engineer
You have already gained some experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, databases and web technologies and would like to deepen your knowledge? As a web engineer, you are an expert in HTML/CSS, AJAX, JavaScript and JSON. In addition, you are adept at working with APIs and know about securing complex web applications.
What content does the postgraduate course cover?
- JavaScript (extension of the contents from module 2)
- Server-side communication and APIs
- Management systems for databases
- The database language SQL (DQL)
- Safety and performance aspects relevant to your work
- Operation of web applications in Docker containers
- Deploying web applications in the cloud
Requirements
Independence and discipline are required for the Web Engineer NDK HF degree programme. The programme draws on blended learning techniques, a combination of online and in-person teaching. Around 25 % of the programme is taught in the classroom, i.e. in-person teaching on site. Accompanied e-learning makes up the larger part at around 75 %. Course materials are almost all available online.
You can register for the Web Engineer postgraduate course if you meet the following admission requirements:
- Knowledge of English, at least level B1: The language of instruction is German, but many learning materials are only available in English.
- You have a Swiss federal diploma (professional examination), a federal degree (higher professional examination) or a degree from a higher professional or technical school. Or you can show that you have completed a university degree.
- Admission as a mature student: Provided that you demonstrate qualified knowledge, admission is also possible without the required qualifications.
- Bring your own device: You use your own device for the lessons.
Special feature
The Web Engineer NDK HF degree corresponds to the third of three modules of the Master in Web Engineering degree programme.
The Master’s degree in Web Engineering is awarded to those who complete the three postgraduate courses Web Designer, Web Developer and Web Engineer.
