Become a full stack developer

This broad knowledge means that you can be employed as a full stack developer after graduation. As such, you are able to develop both frontend and backend solutions. The practice-oriented IBAW course of study Master in Web Engineering, which you can complete on a part-time basis while working, prepares you excellently for the challenges in the professional world thanks to many exercises. The programme, which lasts about 1½ years, is divided into three modules. For the most part, you acquire the learning content by means of guided e-learning, which gives you freedom in the arrangement of the learning phases.

Understanding and using web technologies

The learning objectives of the Web Engineer master’s degree programme are both technical and personal. On the one hand, you will acquire new skills in various web technologies. You understand these from the ground up and you are able to tailor the use of these web technologies. On the other hand, the modular approach also teaches you personal skills. You will learn about various customer situations and understand how to respond to their needs.

Web Engineer in three modules

The IBAW degree programme Master in Web Engineering has a modular structure and the content is divided into three areas. The following three modules must be completed before you can successfully complete the programme:

  • Module 1 – Concept, Design & Usability: Preparation, UI/UX Design, Multimedia, Project Presentation, User-centred Design, Accessibility, Rapid Prototyping, Testing
    • Midway qualification: Web Designer NDK HF
  • Module 2 – Web Technologies Basics: Hosting, CMS, legal aspects, HTML, CSS, JavaScript & DOM, AJAX & JSON, Bootstrap
    • Midway qualification: Web Developer NDK HF
  • Module 3 – Structuring Web Technologies: avaScript structure, database systems and query languages, security, performance, containers and deployment, server-side communication & API, framework (React.js)
    • Midway qualification: Web Engineer NDK HF

English skills mandatory

It is mandatory that your English skills are at level B1 or higher. The language of instruction is German, but many learning materials are only available in English.

Furthermore, you have a flair for technology and possess a logical thinking ability to cope with complex processes.

First contact with the web environment is an advantage.

Web Engineer through self-discipline

A great deal of self-discipline is required for the IBAW Master in Web Engineering programme, as the course is conducted as blended learning. Around 25 per cent of the time is classroom-based, with in-person instruction in class (bring your own device). The greater part, around 75 percent, is by means of guided e-learning. Course materials used are mostly available digitally. An Adobe licence must be obtained by the student.
