Starting with the basic concepts of cloud computing, the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals day at the IBAW will teach you the corresponding options Azure has to offer. After the course, you will be able to understand cloud concepts, the most important core Azure services as well as Azure pricing and Azure support. To ensure this, the course places great emphasis on practical acumen to facilitate the achievement of the learning objectives.
Participation in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals is not linked to any specific previous education; technical IT experience is not required. However, it is an advantage to have some general IT knowledge or experience in the IT field. Please note that the original Microsoft seminar materials are currently only available in English. The lessons, however, are held in German. This is an official Microsoft training course led by a certified Microsoft Trainer (MCT).
All participants receive a Microsoft Achievement certificate – as is the case for all official Microsoft courses. If you have completed the Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course, you will have the wide range of skills that characterise Azure Administrators. Participation in the programme is subject to conditions: In addition to specialist know-how, it is a prerequisite that you have already gained practical experience in a professional IT environment. The Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course is not suitable for beginners without prior knowledge. This official Microsoft course takes place under the guidance of a certified Microsoft Trainer (MCT). The language of instruction is German, but the original Microsoft documents are currently only available in English. At the end of the Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course , all participants receive a Microsoft Achievement certificate of attendance – regardless of whether they pass the examination. The optional Exam AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator can be taken at the IBAW. The cost of this examination is not included in the price.

This broad knowledge means that you can be employed as a full stack developer after graduation. As such, you are able to develop both frontend and backend solutions. The practice-oriented IBAW course of study Master in Web Engineering, which you can complete on a part-time basis while working, prepares you excellently for the challenges in the professional world thanks to many exercises. The programme, which lasts about 1½ years, is divided into three modules. For the most part, you acquire the learning content by means of guided e-learning, which gives you freedom in the arrangement of the learning phases.
The learning objectives of the Web Engineer master’s degree programme are both technical and personal. On the one hand, you will acquire new skills in various web technologies. You understand these from the ground up and you are able to tailor the use of these web technologies. On the other hand, the modular approach also teaches you personal skills. You will learn about various customer situations and understand how to respond to their needs.

After the programme, you should be able to understand existing data models and introduce new models. Accordingly, the learning objectives are: to interpret a given data model, coordinate with users, adapt models, implement and test data models and document the processes around data modelling. The data modelling programme at IBAW provides you with a good foundation to tackle more in-depth computer science training. Knowledge in data modelling is helpful for computer scientists who want to deal with data in the future. The learning objectives of the Scrum Developer Certified course include general information about Scrum – the internationally recognised framework for IT project management – as well as specific information about the role of the Scrum team. The IBAW Scrum Master course teaches you the most important principles of Scrum. After the two days, you can assess whether the Scrum project management approach is suitable for your company. The content of the degree programme in Business Information Technology with a Swiss federal diploma is based on various topics from the fields of information technology and business administration. You will acquire skills in IT service management, IT security and system engineering as well as in business engineering and project management. Legal aspects of business information technology are also taught. Sufficient time is given to exam preparation and thanks to semester exams as well as the internal final exam, you are optimally prepared for the federal exam.
A federal certificate of competence and/or several years of professional experience in the ICT sector are prerequisites for starting the programme to become a business IT specialist with a Swiss federal diploma. If one of the following three scenarios applies to you, you can take this course:
The programme in Business and Information Technology with a Swiss federal diploma is primarily aimed at generalists from the fields of business and information technology who would like to deal in depth with process analysis and project management. But this training is also tailored to professionals with experience in managing development projects and employees who work in IT or in the IT environment and are aiming for a higher federal qualification. If you graduate, you also lay the foundation for further, higher education.
With the certificate in Business and Information Technology, you have already completed the basic studies for the diploma Business and Information Technology HF. This allows you to go directly to the 4th semester of this degree programme.
The syllabus is based entirely on the specifications of the federal examinations. The teaching modules are created by a team of experts, experienced in teaching and practice and are who practical focus on the goals required in the module descriptions of ICT professional training. IBAW courses combine content-related modules in fields of competence. This means that topics are treated holistically and implemented in a hands-on way using practical examples. Thanks to the notion of competence fields, content is taught more efficiently. The holistic approach to the functions and tasks promotes interdisciplinary processing and guarantees your learning success (success rate of over 80 percent in the federal final examinations).
You will be reimbursed by the Confederation (SERI) for up to 50 per cent of the eligible course costs after you have completed the course and passed the federal examination. Their examination success is not relevant for the federal contribution.

One advantage of business IT specialists is that they have a sound knowledge of business administration and specific expertise in computer science as well as in business and information engineering. Thanks to these broad-based skills, you will be able to exert influence in a wide variety of areas of your company after the programme. In this way, you clarify simple legal questions independently, create project documentation and advise user groups. You conduct evaluation projects, evaluate the results and initiate the next steps. As a supervisor, you lead your employees and monitor the work in the projects. Thanks to the practice-oriented training, you also implement challenging tasks in the IT environment.
In order to start the training or further education to become a business IT specialist, you must have a relevant EFZ (computer scientist, media scientist, business administrator) or a degree from a federally recognised business school. If you do not have a relevant EFZ, you will be admitted if you have an EFZ from another profession with at least three years of basic training, a gymnasium-level Matura qualification or an equivalent foreign qualification.
Persons without a relevant EFZ, but with at least two years of proven professional experience in business administration and information technology, can gain access to the degree programme via the sur-dossier (or mature student) admission procedure.
If you have a Swiss federal diploma or a degree in IT, you can have these credited to you. You attend supplementary modules that you have not yet acquired. The IBAW’s clearly structured and modular educational concept offers you the option of completing the programme as a complete course of study or in stages.
All cantons make financial contributions to the higher technical college courses at the IBAW within the framework of the intercantonal technical college agreement. The tuition fee amounts to CHF 29,000 for aspiring business information technology HF graduates with a non-scholarship residence in Switzerland.
The amount of the cantonal contributions is reviewed every two years and redefined by the EDK. Accordingly, the amount of the contribution rate can change (both upwards and downwards) during the programme.
