Starting with the basic concepts of cloud computing, the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals day at the IBAW will teach you the corresponding options Azure has to offer. Participation in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals is not linked to any specific previous education; technical IT experience is not required. However, it is an advantage to have some general IT knowledge or experience in the IT field. Please note that the original Microsoft seminar materials are currently only available in English. The lessons, however, are held in German. This is an official Microsoft training course led by a certified Microsoft Trainer (MCT).

If you have completed the Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course, you will have the wide range of skills that characterise Azure Administrators. You will be able to describe, implement, manage and monitor infrastructure components and subscriptions of the Microsoft Azure Cloud. You know the essential elements of Azure and have the skills to perform practical configurations in the Microsoft Cloud. Migrating servers to Azure and understanding the networking technology in the Microsoft Cloud is also something you will have acquired. And you know how to implement Azure Application Services and secure Azure identities.

In terms of content, the four-day Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course has these five focal points:

• Azure subscription management
• Implementing storage solutions
• Creating, scaling and managing virtual machines
• Configuring and managing virtual networks
• Implementing Azure Active Directory (AD)

Participation in the programme is subject to conditions: In addition to specialist know-how, it is a prerequisite that you have already gained practical experience in a professional IT environment. For example, you are MCSA Windows Server 2016 certified and now want to tackle the “step into the cloud”. The Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate course is not suitable for beginners without prior knowledge. The Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) course, which you can also take at the IBAW, serves as ideal preparation. It teaches the basics of cloud services and Microsoft Azure.

The learning objectives of the Web Engineer master’s degree programme are both technical and personal. On the one hand, you will acquire new skills in various web technologies. You understand these from the ground up and you are able to tailor the use of these web technologies. On the other hand, the modular approach also teaches you personal skills. You will learn about various customer situations and understand how to respond to their needs.

The IBAW degree programme Master in Web Engineering has a modular structure and the content is divided into three areas. The following three modules must be completed before you can successfully complete the programme:

It is mandatory that your English skills are at level B1 or higher. The language of instruction is German, but many learning materials are only available in English.

Furthermore, you have a flair for technology and possess a logical thinking ability to cope with complex processes.

First contact with the web environment is an advantage.

A great deal of self-discipline is required for the IBAW Master in Web Engineering programme, as the course is conducted as blended learning. Around 25 per cent of the time is classroom-based, with in-person instruction in class (bring your own device). The greater part, around 75 percent, is by means of guided e-learning. Course materials used are mostly available digitally. An Adobe licence must be obtained by the student.

One focus of ITIL® 4 is on the four dimensions of service management, which you will learn about in depth. In addition, after the course you will have a deeper understanding of the ITIL® value chain and will be able to apply the ITIL® framework in a targeted manner in your company. In doing so, you demonstrate a professional approach within the framework.

The ITIL® 4 course is aimed at people who already have experience in the IT industry. It is aimed at executives such as CIOs, IT managers, project managers, IT coordinators, IT consultants and IT officers. However, IT employees with promotion potential and people interested in further training in IT service management also get their money’s worth with ITIL® 4. If you are familiar with the ITIL® framework, this course offers you an ideal opportunity to expand your ITIL® knowledge and adapt it to the latest trends.

Practice-oriented training makes it easier to apply the learning content in a targeted manner later on. This is taken into account in the ITIL® 4 course. At the IBAW you will learn the concept of ITIL® 4 in a very practical way. The course is designed to always convey the theoretical content to the participants with reference to the corporate world. The many case studies support this endeavour. In addition, the course offers you specific preparation for the ITIL® Foundation Certificate. There is no additional fee for the final examination, this is included in the course fees.

After the programme, you should be able to understand existing data models and introduce new models. Accordingly, the learning objectives are: to interpret a given data model, coordinate with users, adapt models, implement and test data models and document the processes around data modelling. The learning objectives of the Scrum Developer Certified course include general information about Scrum – the internationally recognised framework for IT project management – as well as specific information about the role of the Scrum team. After attending the course, you will be familiar with the concepts, benefits and challenges of the Scrum methodology. You have the necessary knowledge to effectively contribute to a Scrum project as a member of the Scrum team. But the know-how you acquire also puts you in a position to interact with a Scrum team from the outside. Furthermore, you will know the differences between agile and traditional project management methods.

The two-day Scrum Developer Certified course gives you a good overview of what Scrum actually is. You will also explore the history of Scrum, Scrum principles as well as the aspects and processes involved in Scrum. You will gain specific insight into the roles and functions in Scrum teams. Furthermore, the scalability of agile methods – of course with a focus on Scrum – is on the programme. In order for you to successfully complete the Scrum Developer certificate examination at the end of the two days, time is also invested in specific examination preparation.

Participation in this course is not linked to any previous training. However, if you already have experience in project management and/or IT, this would certainly be an advantage. The Scrum Developer Certified course is primarily aimed at:

A special feature of the Scrum Developer Certified certificate is that you take the final examination online. We are supported in this by our Scrum partner VMEdu, a globally company that offers various types of courses and certificates. Examination supervision for the so-called online proctored examination is organised by VMEdu. The fee for the examination of CHF 180 does not have to be paid separately, it is included in the total price of the course.

It is worth mentioning that the final examination for the programme takes place online. Our Scrum partner is VMEdu, a global company that offers various types of courses and certificates. VMEdu will oversee the examination (online proctored examination). The examination fee of CHF 420 is included in the overall price of the course.

In addition to Scrum Product Owner, the IBAW offers other courses on the two Scrum roles. The Scrum Master ensures that Scrum is implemented and works within a company. For members of the Scrum team, we recommend the Scrum Developer course. Among other things, this deals with the roles and functions in the Scrum team.

The IBAW Scrum Master course teaches you the most important principles of Scrum. After the two days, you can assess whether the Scrum project management approach is suitable for your company. This means that you know how Scrum works and that you are able to use it in your company. You can start and coordinate your first Scrum projects independently. This does not only apply to new projects: you should also be able to apply what they have learned to existing projects and thus improve them.

In the two days of the Scrum Master course, a wealth of knowledge from various content areas is imparted: general information about Scrum, the role of the Scrum Master and how to deal with Scrum are part of the programme. The following contents are dealt with in detail:

The Scrum Master course is not aimed at every professional group. Our target group mainly includes:

The content of the degree programme in Business Information Technology with a Swiss federal diploma is based on various topics from the fields of information technology and business administration. You will acquire skills in IT service management, IT security and system engineering as well as in business engineering and project management. Legal aspects of business information technology are also taught. Sufficient time is given to exam preparation and thanks to semester exams as well as the internal final exam, you are optimally prepared for the federal exam.

A federal certificate of competence and/or several years of professional experience in the ICT sector are prerequisites for starting the programme to become a business IT specialist with a Swiss federal diploma. If one of the following three scenarios applies to you, you can take this course:

• Swiss Federal certificate of competence in IT or in some form of business with at least two years of professional experience in the field of information and communication technology ICT
• At least four years of professional experience in the professional field of information and communication technology (ICT) and either a federal certificate of competence or a diploma from a higher general school education or an equivalent qualification
• At least six years of professional experience in the professional field of information and communication technology ICT

The programme in Business and Information Technology with a Swiss federal diploma is primarily aimed at generalists from the fields of business and information technology who would like to deal in depth with process analysis and project management. But this training is also tailored to professionals with experience in managing development projects and employees who work in IT or in the IT environment and are aiming for a higher federal qualification. If you graduate, you also lay the foundation for further, higher education.

One advantage of business IT specialists is that they have a sound knowledge of business administration and specific expertise in computer science as well as in business and information engineering. Thanks to these broad-based skills, you will be able to exert influence in a wide variety of areas of your company after the programme. In this way, you clarify simple legal questions independently, create project documentation and advise user groups. You conduct evaluation projects, evaluate the results and initiate the next steps. As a supervisor, you lead your employees and monitor the work in the projects. Thanks to the practice-oriented training, you also implement challenging tasks in the IT environment.

• IT competences in business engineering, project management, quality management, IT security and risk management as well as in IT service management
• Networking modules: In various networking modules, the competences are linked to overarching topics (e.g. sustainability, gender equality, occupational health and safety, compliance, work-life balance, etc.)
• Project and transfer work relevant to doctoral studies to ensure optimal transfer to practice

In order to start the training or further education to become a business IT specialist, you must have a relevant EFZ (computer scientist, media scientist, business administrator) or a degree from a federally recognised business school. If you do not have a relevant EFZ, you will be admitted if you have an EFZ from another profession with at least three years of basic training, a gymnasium-level Matura qualification or an equivalent foreign qualification.

Persons without a relevant EFZ, but with at least two years of proven professional experience in business administration and information technology, can gain access to the degree programme via the sur-dossier (or mature student) admission procedure.

If you have a Swiss federal diploma or a degree in IT, you can have these credited to you. You attend supplementary modules that you have not yet acquired. The IBAW’s clearly structured and modular educational concept offers you the option of completing the programme as a complete course of study or in stages.

All cantons make financial contributions to the higher technical college courses at the IBAW within the framework of the intercantonal technical college agreement. The tuition fee amounts to CHF 29,000 for aspiring business information technology HF graduates with a non-scholarship residence in Switzerland.

The amount of the cantonal contributions is reviewed every two years and redefined by the EDK. Accordingly, the amount of the contribution rate can change (both upwards and downwards) during the programme.
